Pre-k  March Newsletter

March was a very busy month for us.  We began by having our Pancake Breakfast and Pajama Party.  The children really enjoyed the day!  Next, we had our St. Patrick’s Day Parade and they just loved singing, playing their instruments, and marching around the classroom.   Finally, we ended the month with our Easter Egg Hunt and Party which was an exciting day for the children.
 

This month our whole language unit involved the Pre-K setting sail on a new adventure studying water, the water’s edge, and the animals that live in and around this precious resource.  Along with Dill and the Investigator Club, they learned about oceans, rivers, lakes, and wetlands.
 

In Religion we also covered the lessons “I Can Listen”, “St. Patrick”, “Miracles of Jesus”, “Lent” and the holy season of “Easter”.  It was such a pleasure to see all the purple hearts the children earned for all their acts of kindness and good deeds that they did to make a path of love to the cross.
 

Reading Readiness/Language Arts involved learning about the letters and their sounds, phonological awareness, literacy, and shared writing.
In Math we are continuing to work with number recognition, one to one correspondence, counting, sorting, shapes, patterning, graphing, part/whole and same/different.  Then in Science and Health we discussed the season of spring, and learned about the Food Groups and the importance of eating healthy foods.   
 

Again, we had another productive month.  The children are growing so fast and are learning so much every day.  I’m very proud of all their accomplishments. Also, a very special thank you for all the paper supplies you’ve been sending in to keep our classroom and children clean and pampered.

June 19, 2013 – Pre-K 4 Moving Up Ceremony at 9:00 A.M. - Afterceremon
