Mrs. Donna Florio teaches the second grade at Saint Bernadette Catholic School. She is a graduate of SCSU with a BS and MS degree in Education. Mrs. Florio is also certified to teach grades Pre K-Grade 6.

    Mrs. Florio has been teaching SBS for ten years. She actually taught Pre-K 4 first in 1996. In 1999, she began teaching 2nd grade- just in time for her first Pre-K class to become her first 2nd grade class!

    In the second grade Mrs. Florio expands on the reading and writing skills learned in 1st grade with a focus on comprehension skills. The subjects that many second graders are most eager to learn are cursive writing and double-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. Another favorite activity is creating their annual gingerbread village.

    In addition to academics, Mrs. Florio has a strong hope that her students will develop a love of learning and become kind, respectful and caring members of the community.
