Mrs. Scaranuzzo

Patricia ScaranuzzoThe Saint Bernadette Early Education Center is a nurturing and caring environment where 3 and 4 year old children are provided with multi-sensory experiences to grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually.  On September 3, 2010 the children are invited to school to meet their teaher and visit our newly rnovated Pre-K which has multiple centers for the children to grow, learn, and explore.  They can also bring their school supplies and rest things to make for an easier transition on the first full day of school, September 7, 2010.  The Pre-K center opens at 8:10 A.M. and the children are dismissed at 2:45 P.M. There is also a Before and After School Program available for parents who need this service.  The school supplies the morning snack milk and the children will need to bring in their own healthy snack due to food allergies.  On the first day of school the children will also need a lunch, drink, and an additional snack for lunch.  If you are interested in milk or pizza (only served on Tuesday and Friday) for lunch information regarding this will be sent home.

The children will begin the school year by learning in Religion that they are special gifts from God with unique abilities and talents. They will become aware that Jesus is their friend and they need to practice Christian actions towards others like taking turns, helping, sharing, and listening.  In Reading Readiness the children will be introduced to a print rich environment where they will develop oral language and phonological awareness.   They will also learn to identify the letters in the alphabet and participate in writing related activities.  Our Math program uses literature to teach mathematical concepts, skills, and vocabulary.  The children will have fun daily with hands on activities like sorting objects, counting, measuring, and making patterns.  During the month of September the children will learn about Johnny Appleseed and how apples grows and the foods we can make from this fruit.  In Science/ Health they will begin the year by learning about the seasons, weather, and growth. Then, the children's height and weight will be measured for comparison at the end of the year. In Music and Art the curriculum is usually related to the season.  The children will learn many concepts and facts through songs, and are so proud and excited about bring home their art projects and sharing them with their families. The Pre-K also has the Librarian come twice a week to read them wonderful stories and does movement, exercises, and plays great games in Gym.

The Early Education Center is a busy and productive place for the Pre-K children.  They are in a safe and loving atmosphere where they will learn in a Christian environment.  I'm looking forward to a fantastic school year with your children!  Also, every month I will post a monthly newsletter with all the exciting things that are happening in Pre-K.
