WELCOME TO GRADE 3

                                            2011-2012 Academic School Year

This is a very exciting year as the students enter a transitional phase and develop their skills to become independent workers.  The students will be making two Sacraments in third grade, Reconciliation and First Communion.  Our Religion curriculum helps us prepare all year for these very important Sacraments. 
  

The children will be working on their fluency in reading and will be demonstrating their comprehension by identifying main ideas, supporting details, and predicting outcomes. 

Math is a favorite of many of the students as they will be mastering long number addition and subtraction as well as learning multiplication and exploring division.

Weekly spelling tests will be given every Friday, unless noted otherswise.

In English their writing skills will develop greatly as they learn about sentence development, structure and utilizing the parts of speech.  

*Be sure to check the students folder each night for notes that are sent home and corrected papers.  The children will be given three homework worksheets every night which correspond with lessons taught in class that day. 

*Don't forget our Special schedule so the children are prepared;
